Making a Straight Edge

I have noticed on a few different sites that a number of people have discussed whether or not the jagged edge can be made straight. I thought about this problem a number of years ago but being busy with other things I didn't get around to finding a solution until recently. Well I can assure you that it can be done. Just to prove it, I have included pictures of a sample piece I made below.

I think all those who make handbags, purses and the like, would find this useful for the top row. Although only the top edge is shown straight in the pictures, It is possible to actually make all sides straight.

Making a straight edge could also be useful for picture frames, bracelets etc. I'm sure you can think of many other items this method would be useful for.

Any questions? Please feel free to ask.

I hope I have encouraged you to give it a go!

Mystery item

As a bit of fun, I have included the following picture to see if you can quess what it is. I can't give you any clues as it would be too easy to guess what it is. Sorry!

Let me know what you think it is. If enough interest is shown, details of what this item is and plans of how to make it will be added to my blog sometime in the future. Happy guessing!
